James Ed Carleton, AIA

Sr. Project Architect, SLAY Architecture

Creative, Efficient, Innovative

When the business required Madeline’s focus elsewhere, Ed was hired for his extensive background in Project Management and his experience in multiple project types. Madeline knows first-hand his work ethic and exceptional capabilities.

“Ed is a trusted colleague and friend. Having him by my side is a great step for our Firm”

Ed followed in his grandfather’s footsteps, “Henry Adams worked with Robert McNamara building colleges all over the world for the Ford Foundation”. A sophomore at Texas Tech University Lubbock, Ed joined King Builders as a draftsman for Agricultural Facilities. He completed his degree, Bachelor of Architecture in 1980 and became a licensed Architect in 1993. Ed has over 45 years of experience in architectural design along with master planning, programming, cost estimating and construction administration. His areas of technical expertise include retail, hospital and allied medical facilities, educational and associated athletic facilities, government, commercial properties, office-warehouses and parking structures. As the Sr. Project Architect for SLAY, Ed’s leadership is focused on Project Management from the Client’s program requirements, to development of the design concept, through production management of the construction drawings and into project construction administration.

Ed is a member of American Institute of Architects and is a member of the Texas Society of Architects.

Testimonials

I have known Madeline Slay for several years. We first met through NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). Not only is Madeline an extremely talented and successful architect, she is a stalwart leader in our community. When she commits to do something, she gives it her all. NAWBO has certainly benefited from her leadership. I sat on her board when she was President. There were some difficult issues to deal with and she was the perfect leader to guide the organization to new heights. Madeline Slay is passionate about satisfying others dependent upon her, both in her business and in her community. I am proud to call her my friend.
